چکیده

In this work we provide theoretical background for the analysis of second-order correlation functions in experiments performed at soft x-ray free-electron lasers (XFELs). Typically, beamlines XFELs are equipped by variable line spacing (VLS) monochromators. We perform examination beam propagation through such VLS monochromator taking specially into account interplay between finite resolution and exit slits width. then general intensities spectral spatial domains. Finally, connect these with statistical properties incoming to unit limit Gaussian Schell-model pulses.

Hanbury Brown–Twiss interferometry for fractional and integer Mott phases

The theoretical framework of Hanbury Brown–Twiss interferometry (HBTI) is used to study integer and fractionally filled Mott insulator (MI) phases in period-2 optical superlattices. In contrast to the quasimomentum distribution, this second order interferometry pattern exhibits high contrast fringes in the insulating phases. Our detailed study of HBTI suggests that this interference pattern sig...

Hanbury Brown and Twiss interferometry with twisted light.

The rich physics exhibited by random optical wave fields permitted Hanbury Brown and Twiss to unveil fundamental aspects of light. Furthermore, it has been recognized that optical vortices are ubiquitous in random light and that the phase distribution around these optical singularities imprints a spectrum of orbital angular momentum onto a light field. We demonstrate that random fluctuations of...

Detection of Single Photon Emission by Hanbury-Brown Twiss Interferometry

We prepare a solution of nano-diamond particles on a glass microscope slide with a target concentration of 1 × 10 M. Using a confocal microscope, we observe photons emitted from the particles via excitation from a pulsed 532 nm solid state laser at 840 μW. A Hanbury Brown and Twiss interferometer is used to probe these photons for evidence of antibunching. At this time, we did not observe antib...

Hanbury-Brown Twiss Interferometry in Ultrarelativistic Heavy Ion Collisions

We discuss the elementary physics of the final state Coulomb interactions in HanburyBrown Twiss interferometry, showing – with explicit comparison to E877 data for π+π− and π±p – that the Coulomb corrections in the pair correlation function can be well understood in terms of simple classical physics. We connect the classical picture with descriptions in terms of Coulomb wave functions, and inve...
